RIVER VERTICAL DROP STRUCTURE MODIFICATIONS

The hydraulic pros and cons of the vertical drop structure along Okanagan River during low and high flow conditions were discussed with the client and approving authority. The project involved removing four concrete ‘v’ shaped wedges from the two middle bays of the structure. Design drawings were prepared, approvals were obtained, and planning began to coordinate modifications to the vertical drop structure. The materials and tools were purchased and the site work was completed to obtain the desired modifications and hydraulic objectives. Through post construction monitoring, it was determined that this design build project was successful.
